Board Member Profiles

Tom Heneghan, President
Tom joined the board 7 years ago and is currently serving his
fifth year as President. He has two daughters who played
WMLL Softball and a son who played WMLL Baseball and is now
playing collegiately. Tom is
an attorney for the
Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek law firm in Madison.
Tom is married and has coached both baseball and
softball at WMLL at all levels. He has also served
for many years on the Softball Committee and currently
coordinates the Softball Major Lg.

Harry Miller, VP-Baseball, Past
President
Harry is the second longest tenured member of the board,
having served over 17 years. He has filled a
variety of positions in the organization, including
President, VP-Baseball, Baseball Operations Committee
chair, Umpire Coordinator and Tournament Team
Coordinator. Harry has also coordinated several of
our special events, such as Little Lg Night at the
Brewers and the WMLL 50th Season celebration. He is married and has two sons who played
at WMLL and a daughter who managed the concession stand
for a number of years. Harry works for the
Wisconsin Historical Society Archives and has coached at
WMLL in all levels of play. Harry also coordinates
the Fall Ball Junior Lg and the regular season Badger
League.

Chip Hunter, VP-Softball
Chip joined the Board in 2007 after a number of
years working on the volunteer softball committee.
He has primarily been involved with the Girls' Softball
program and has served in a variety of capacities,
including coach, league scheduler, league coordinator
and chair of the softball committee. He has been
very instrumental in promoting the Girls' Softball
program (including development of the new Rookie Lg
program in 2011) and raising funds for field improvements.
Chip is married and has two daughters who have played
softball at WMLL. He is on the faculty of the
University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Maury Tomczak, Secretary-Treasurer
Maury is the longest tenured member of the board, having
served for over 30 years. He is married and has a son
who played at WMLL from 1979-85 and a daughter who
worked in concessions from 1987-90 (before the current
concession stand was built). He and his wife,
Sharon, have coordinated the printing of the annual Team
Roster Books for the past 23 years. Over the
years, he has coordinated the coach mailboxes, field
clean-up day, announced tournament games and coached his
son's teams and tournament teams. Maury is a
retired tax auditor for the Wisconsin Dept of Revenue
and currently serves the board as secretary-treasurer.

Andy Chitwood
Andy has been on the board for many years and is
currently serving as Senior League Coordinator.
Prior to this role, he served a number of years as the
Lg Coordinator for the Badger Lg. Andy is married,
has coached at all levels of WMLL play and had a son and
two daughters come through the program. In
addition, he has served on a number of committees,
including the concessions and groundskeeping committee.
He assumed the role of board liaison to the
concession stand manager for 2010 and continues in that
role today. Andy was also
very involved in the new multi-purpose building
project and coordinates the Senior Lg for Fall Ball.

Mike Metcalf
Mike has been on the board for 13 years and has
primarily been involved with the Girls' softball
program. He was one of the founding committee
members for the softball program and was instrumental in
securing funding so the league could improve the two
softball diamonds at Jefferson Middle School for WMLL
use. Mike has also served as the league's Safety
Officer and for many years has been in charge of
screening WMLL Volunteer applications, as required by
Little League Int'l. He has a son who played at
WMLL for 8 years and a daughter who played for 10 and
worked in the concession stand. Mike is married,
is retired as Chief of Police for the State of
Wisconsin, and currently serves as the Security Director
for Edgewood College. He has also coached both
baseball and softball and is Coordinator for
the Jr Softball Lg. Mike currently is the assistant
softball coach at Edgewood College.

Bob Jordan
Bob was elected to the board in
the fall of 2009. He and his wife, Le, own and operate
Communicators of Wisconsin (COW), an association management
firm. Bob has twin sons who have played the past 7 years
at WMLL. In 2009, Bob volunteered to take over the helm for
WMLL's Sponsorship and Fund Raising programs, as well as all
Special Events, such as the Bowlathon and Little Lg Night at the
Brewers. Bob also serves as Fall Ball Rookie Lg
Coordinator.

Frank Lenoch
Frank is a long-time member of the WMLL family having
coached four sons
through the program. He joined the board in 2007
and immediately assumed the role of Central League
Coordinator. In 2011, Frank took over the role of
Major Lg Coordinator. The crowning jewel in Frank's
coaching career came in 2009 when he served as the head
coach of the WMLL Senior Tournament Team that advanced
to the Senior Little League World Series in Bangor,
Maine! Frank has also served in a
number of other roles including game scheduler and Major
Lg Coordinator for the
WMLL Fall Ball program. He is married and works at Gentel Biosciences.

Ken Compton
Ken was elected to the Board at the 2010 Annual Meeting.
He has coached for a number of years at WMLL. Ken has
assisted the board on many projects, even before being elected.
He completely redesigned the WMLL website for the 2010 season,
bringing a fresh new look to the site. He developed an
online coach evaluation form for WMLL, which was put into play
in 2009, and more than tripled the number of evaluations rec'd
from parents. Ken has also assisted on a number of other
special projects and has been a Challenger League coach since
the program for disabled children began in 2009. He will
be heading up the Umpire Coordination again for the 2012 season. Ken's son
plays baseball at WMLL and his two daughters serve as Challenger
Lg Buddies and coach.
He has been employed with Thermo Fisher Scientific for over
30 years.

Mark Newburg
Mark is entering his 8th year on the board. He has
primarily served as the Pacific Lg Coordinator and
Uniform/Equipment Coordinator for the Fall Ball program.
Mark has also been the lead contact for WMLL's "Night at the
Mallards" each year in June. He is married with two sons,
both of whom played at WMLL. He has coached at all levels
of the program, including tournament teams. In addition to
his WMLL activities, Mark volunteers as the Coordinator of the
Memorial Tri-County Basketball program, is a member of the West
YMCA's Program and Membership Committee and serves on the
National W Club's Hall of Fame Nominating Committee. Mark
is the Sales Manager for Gard Specialists.

Randy Norton
Randy joined the board in 2008 after serving on the
Softball Committee for several years. He has served in a number
of capacities since joining the board, including Junior & Senior Softball
Lg Coordinator, Fall Ball Coordinator and Special Events
Coordinator. Most recently, he has become WMLL's resident
expert on the Online Registration System for the regular and
Fall Ball seasons. Randy is married and has two daughters
who both play WMLL softball. He works for the State of
Wisconsin Dept of Employee Trust Funds as IT Manager.
Randy has coached softball at WMLL the past six years.

Steven Smith
Steven has been on the board for 8 years and has served in
numerous capacities, including Badger and Senior League
Coordinator, WMLL Clothing Coordinator and liaison between the
board and the concession stand manager. In 2010, he
assumed the role of Tournament Team Coordinator and is serving
as Central Lg Coordinator in 2012. Steven is married and has
three children. His son played baseball at WMLL and one
daughter is playing softball. He is employed at Lands' End
in Dodgeville.

Jim Steeves
Jim was elected to the board in 2007, but actually had been
involved with the organization for 8 years prior to becoming a
board member. He is a pretty handy guy and has done
basically all the carpentry, electrical and plumbing work for
WMLL for years. Jim is married and his son Chris is WMLL
Groundskeeper, while daughter Angela is Assistant Concessions
Manager. Wife Sheila also works at WMLL on grounds and
concessions......its a family affair! Jim works at
American TV as Senior Technical Support Specialist and has been
with American for 35 years. He began his board service as
Sponsorship Chair and is now in the role of
Facilities Maintenance Coordinator

Steve Hagens
Steve was just elected to the board in 2011 and is beginning his first
year of service. He will be assuming the role of Atlantic
League Coordinator in 2012.
Steve is married and has two sons and a daughter all
playing at WMLL. He has
coached at all levels at WMLL including tournaments teams the
past two years. Steve
owns and operates the Madison office of Donnelley Logistics
Services Worldwide and coaches high school wrestling at Verona
Area High School.

Paul Zwaska
Paul joined the board 10 years ago, bringing his first-hand Major
League Baseball groundskeeping experience to WMLL.
Prior to returning to Madison, Paul spent 16+ years with the
Baltimore Orioles groundskeeping staff, the last 10 as head
groundskeeper. He currently works at Beacon Athletics in
Middleton as a technical sales advisor and seminar instructor.
Paul conducts seminars all over the US on proper groundskeeping
techniques, materials and products....that's why WMLL has such
fine playing surfaces! He also serves the board as Budget
Committee Chair, which includes monthly Budget Tracking Reports
for the organization. Paul has two children and his son
played baseball at WMLL from 2002-07. He has also coached
at WMLL over the years and was the coordinator of the new
storage building/picnic porch project. He also serves as chair of
the Long Range Planning Committee.

Greg Mueller, Past President
(ex-officio board member)
Greg is currently an ex-officio, non-voting member of the
board in his capacity as a Past President. He served WMLL
for many, many years as coach, board member and board President.
Many of the solid organizational processes used at WMLL today
are a result of Greg's leadership over his many years of
service. He is currently retired from teaching at Memorial
High School.
Greg continues to assist WMLL by arranging the annual Skills
Session and Pitching Clinics at Memorial each spring. He
is married and has several children.

Bill Battista, Executive Director, Past
President (ex-officio board member)
Bill began his WMLL involvement in 1995,
assisting his brother Bob in coaching Bob's son. He was elected to the board in 1999 and
volunteered as Major Lg Coordinator, a position he continued
with thru the 2010 season. Bill has also served as
President, VP-Baseball and has chaired
a number of committees. He has been involved with the
concessions and grounds committee and serves as the board
liaison to District 4 Little Lg. He
coordinates the District Majors Tournament each July for the
district. Bill is married and has three grown daughters
(none of whom played at WMLL, as Girls' Softball had not yet
been started). He has coached at all levels of the program
including tournament play. He retired from his full time
job in 2007 and now serves as part-time WMLL Exec. Director.
He was the recipient of the inaugural Vern Ruhle Little Lg
Volunteer of the Year award in 2007, as presented by the Wis.
District 4 Little Lg staff. Bill also coordinates the fall
Challenger Lg for children with disabilities.
